Web url design: https://xxx/books and https://xxx/books/report

I'm new to web development. Sorry for the ambiguity in the question title. I can't find a good way to summarize my question.

https://xxx/books sends a GET request to get a JSON list of books with many properties. I want to make some stats for the books and display the stats on the report page. And I need to download the report page.

There is a report button on the books page. Clicking the button, the JSON stats data passes from /books to /books/report. My question is if I first type https://xxx/books/report rather than going to the books page and clicking the report button, the page doesn't have JSON data. How should I design the url? I know this question may sound very stupid, but I can't figure this out.
