HTTP is the main protocol on internet today. Besides protocols like DNS, NTP and SSH that are necessary for the infrastructure of the internet itself, HTTP is used for mainly all the communications between users and systems and systems and systems as well.
Sometimes I see yet some developments using different protocols, sometimes even developed internally.
So the question is:
HTTP is enough for every communication going through the internet?
I think if there are cases when I would need to use a different thing, like a proprietary messaging protocol over TCP or an UDP binary communication or if a certain webservice should communicate using different protocol.
Articles about that matter are welcome.
