Excess website spacing - ::before p elements

Today I checked on a website that I have not worked on in the last month and there is extra vertical spacing on almost every element.

When inspecting the code, everywhere there is the extra space there is a <p> ::before </p> code.

Does anyone know what this problem is? I restored my website to an older version and still get this problem.
