Can my Android APP be just a frontpage for my website?

I have a daily news website for some years, but web-only, no app yet. Why do I even need an app? Basically for only one purpose - to inform my readers that the new article has been published. I really don't have the time (or skill) to create a whole app-based news media I run, so I was wondering - could I create an app that will be just the "front page" with articles listed one by one and then when someone clicks on the title it would take them to the website (on Chrome or whatever is their default browser) where they can comment etc. Could I do this? Has something like this been done before? App would be used just as a "notification tool" (with options to disable those, indeed). Would it be hard to do? Thanks!
