Is there a way to create copies with smaller resolutions from a single video file?

I would like to upload a video on my website and it is very annoying to have to manually convert it to 720p, 480p, 360p, etc. So I was wondering if there is any application or plugin that allows from a 1080p video file it creates in a separate folder all multiple resolutions of lesser quality at once.
