Automate existing browser, mix user input with automation

I'm looking for some kind of framework that will allow mixing automation with the user's work. For example, after specific page is open, I'd like to check if last received message contains a specific keyword. If so, I'd like to automatically answer that message. So I guess I'm looking for some chatbot API, but the main problem is that I don't control the page that I want to interact with.
