Refresh already opened web page through python

I really want to be able to refresh an already opened chrome tab or firefox tab using python. Is there any way to do that without using selenium ?

All I want to do is to refresh a tab whenever an action occurs, like a command, button pressed or anything like this.

Any idea, please?

I have tried to refresh the page with some javascript commands. This works, but I am not able to call those function from python.
