Can I have a picture open in a new window when clicked and let it close when I click the enlarged one, only using CSS und HTML?

I have a web page showing some text and also a picture. I need to have the picture opened and enlarged within a new window when clicked and closed once the enlarged version is clicked on.

Is it possible to solve this problem only using HTML and CSS?
