I help with a non-profit and we are in the process of moving our e-commerce platform. The existing implementation is highly customized and very old, and the developer staff is mostly volunteer. We were hoping to move to a solution that would require minimal customization and improve maintainability.
The nonprofit offers a few different types of products:
- physical products (Such as books) that are shipped out.
- ebooks
- An online video subscription (This is the main product)
The subscriptions work as a class. The user would by a 6 week class and then gain access to all the online videos for those 6 weeks. We also need to allow access to class chatrooms for forums for people currently taking the class.
We also have a category of user that are "members" and we need to allow members access to a special member site, and allow for additional account details for members.
That being said what e-commerce solution do you use? All of the ones we have been looking at seem to either be targeted at much larger organizations, or lack the features we require. We would defiantly be open to using several smaller systems in tandem, but cannot seem to find good recommendations.
