Add "Add to homescreen" button on Mobile Browser in Android

How to add "Add to home screen" button is web apps? Even though there is a tutorial at developers.google, it is not working as stated. Can anyone provide a clear method to do the same and provide a working sample for it.. Thanks in advance..
