Pull assets from Firebase Storage to be referenced upon user request

I Have a website that will be hosting an interactive story that I have created using html, css, javascript, json. The website itself is being hosted on firebase and the assets contained in every story (images, audio,script) are also stored in firebase.

My problem is that I have a number of stories and when a user clicks on a particular story I need the reference to be coming from the storage in Firebase and not the hard coded-version that is only available on my local machine.

I have created a variable that references this specific project as well as a variable that represents every story folder stored on Firebase but I am not sure how to pull the folders of story data based on a user selecting a specific story. I have searched through dozens of questions and very limited Firebase Documentation and have found no starting point or anyone with a similar question/issue. If anyone can point in the right direction of documentation on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.FB Storage
