DNS Server on server 2012 R2 not working externally, only on internal machines

I have a domain, example.net, and a dns server running on server 2012 R2. The forwarding records work internally on my network but when I get my friend to access the website via the domain, but is getting the following error: ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED. Any idea on how to fix this?
