Way to go : Responsive to Progressive web application

I developed web applications using Bootstrap to make a page responsive. But I am realizing that progressive web apps are going to be popular in near future. So which technologies are going to be used for building progressive web apps? How are those apps providing extra benefits to the user?

Would you guys like to mention some points that makes sense?
