How can I host a ruby on rails app with massive database storage?

Hey I would like to create a web-app with ruby on rails that enables users to upload fotos, pretty much like instagram. Now I wonder how would I host such an app that potentially needs a big amount of memory. How would I takle this? Are there any affordable/scaleable solutions?
