How to get permanent conection with websocket

I am developing a java client to connect to my server using websocket until now everything is fine and works great but after 5min aproximaty the conection close and I need to reconect . I thought after to do a conection this would be permanent until I close or server close down. There is a way to keep the connection open without reconection ?
