Does anyone have any experience on how one would implement application streaming (cross-platform) in their application like Microsoft has done with their Office application using the Click-to-Run software?

It seems to be very hard to find information on something like this.
The only method I could think of that would be straight forward would be to create an application using modules, First you would have an small installer that a user would download. The installer would then "stream" a main module which would consist of the skeleton (or the main window) and then have everything else as separate modules which would be streamed (or downloaded) in the background in order of possible priority of a using using a module first.
Does anyone know of any other ways that this would typically be implemented?
