Is this right track for ROR development?

I want to learn enough Ruby On Rails in order to hack a quick viable prototype. Where do I begin?

I decided to go with this program online. The program has mini courses in "Javascript", "Console Foundations", "Git Basics", "Installing A Ruby Environment", "Build A todo List with Rails 4", "Database Foundations", "ActiveRecord Basics", and lastly "User Authentication with Rails". With this curriculum, will I know enough to hack a basic prototype? Secondly, is there anything on this list that I really do not have to go through?
