Database schema for a file system

I am writting a spring based webapplication. I have to create a file upload system, similar to copy.com/dropbox.com. I am looking to emulate normal file systems of directories(folders) and normal files. I am bit unclear on the database schema for the same, like how to handle permissions, share files/folders across multiple users. Need some initial inputs!
