The Native Approach: Towards micro-libraries that enable future browser standards for JS and CSS

I am currently quite enthusiastic regarding specialized micro-libraries that do exactly one job very well. Also, i like the idea to enable future browser standards like EcmaScript6 and CSS4 through shims and the build chain.

My question: Which approaches and libraries are a good fit for a full-stack single-page application?

My Goal: No dependencies to jQuery, Angular, Ember, Bootstrap, etc.
