How to add a shrotcut to desktop / android home screen on button click html?

I've seen an option in chrome browser in android to add to home screen option for a website. so user can directly click on the shortcut in the home screen to access the website without typing the link ..

I have developed a web application in jsp and the link is an IP address. so letting the user type the URL is a difficult task. so how could I add a button in my page so that when user clicks on the button a shortcut should be created in the desktop/Home screen(mobile) .

It can be done manually by using browser options. but i want to happen that on a button click ..

is there a way to do so.. please let me know if any options are there ? thank you
