Google search deleting terms after # (hash / pound) symbol

No matter what computer / browser I try, Google's web search run on google.com automatically deletes content after the # symbol. For example, if I try to search "c# types", it will replace and search for "c". I have to use alternative search methods. Is anyone else facing this problem?
