What would cause the World Wide Web Publishing Service In IIS to stop?

I'm looking for thoughts on how or why the www publishing service in IIS 10 would stop.

The www publishing service stopped in our VPS environment last night causing all our sites to stop. No updates or routine maintenance was performed on the server. Nothing blatant in the logs to point to why it shut off either. After a manual restart to the service and all sites, everything is running. I've also set the recovery options to "Restart the Service" for each failure. I'm looking to the community to get an idea of how or why the service would have stopped. Has anyone else ran into this and what did you discover as a root cause? If anything?
