Device orientation and motion interface vs sensor interface

There seems to be a lot of overlap between

• the DeviceMotion and DeviceOrientation APIs, and
• the Sensor APIs

Which of the two should I focus on using for motion and orientation data? I understand they are both experimental technologies and I might have to attempt to fallback to the other because of browser compatibility issues.

Are there plans on deprecating one of the two?

What are the differences between the two, other than the fact that the Sensor APIs can be expanded to support more sensors in the future?
