How to configure Apache on Ubuntu website virtual hosts

I have a Ubuntu 16.04 installation with Apache2 and PHP 5.7. No matter what I try I cannot get the virtual hosts configured correctly. On the server I have Localhost within browser brings up the usual Apache2 welcome page. My domain robotrave.co.uk will bring up my test website however www.robotrave.co.uk and http://www.robotrave.co.uk will result in 'Firefox is unable to connect'. If I ping the domains from terminal they point to localhost(127.0.0.1).

I have created a conf file within sites-available (copied from 000-default.conf) and modified with my domain name and used the sudo a2ensite robotrave.co.uk hense robotrave.co.uk within Firefox works. I can confirm that the same .conf file exists within sites-enabled after running the a2ensite command. I have modified my hosts file to point all variations of robotrave.co.uk / www.robotrave.co.uk to 127.0.0.1 Can anybody offer any further suggestions?

Thanks
