_config.yml is not recognized while building jekyll

I am developing a website for the first time. I am using Jekyll. I followed instructions on the Jekyll website. There is a configuration file in my folder however the administrator that i am using Ruby for is not recognizing the _config.yml while building jekyll. I get the following error while doing so. Configuration file: none I have tried to clean up the gem as recomended by some user on here and then tried bundle exec jekyll serve to no avail. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
