How can i get place from text of webpage or from keyword?

my website retrieve pages from wikipedia and show it in another layout, now I have to add a map with markers, that for some reason are related to the page (related place,paths, etc.), the problem is that i don't know first what page the user want to visit, so I need an algoritmic solution to find these markers. I have thought about scan the text of the page and get city, region, states but I didn't find a good way to do this, furthermore some page are really short and whitout information so I need another solution, like retrieve places by title or by keyword maybe. Have someone an hint to do this?
