Tool where search string can be given as input by user on a webpage

I want to create a tool where an expression/search string, for eg, (approach OR method) AND (stress OR "human behavior") is defined by the user in a manner similar to IEEE advanced search engine The keywords of the string are then stored in the database as entered by the user, kindly guide me how can this be done.
