Questions about the best ways to pull data from a website

I have very little scripting knowledge but would like to learn and was wondering what the best way to pull specific pieces of data like price and part # from a website(language, software, etc). Ultimately I would like to be able to transfer this data over to our work system but I assume that is probably an entirely separate project.
