Can i use route attribute in mvc 4 web api?

i wanted to use route attribute in my action level in webapi.but it says Error 85 The type or namespace name 'RouteAttribute' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)though i install Install-Package AttributeRouting.WebApi but still it showing same error message.
