I am asking this purely as a future developer. Is there something that changed in the internet? Some new rule that makes them do this in order maybe to get a valid visitor count? I don't know at all. Just, many of the pages started to do exactly the same and it looks curious to me what could be the technological reason to do this. (not sure if this question is appropriate for SO...)
