How to store images on backend?

I need to store images that users can upload on the website and view them later. I'm wondering what is the best way to store images on the backend. I see at least 2 approaches:

• upload images directly to AWS S3
• use SAAS like cloudinary or imgix. They provide an API + cropping, scaling, etc.

One more requirement - it should be easily scalable.

Are there any other good ways to store images? Did you have experience with these two approaches? What are the pros and cons?
