Is PHP in decline?

Not really sure if this is the right place to post this question, so feel free to move it somewhere else if it isn't.

Rumor has it (have read it in a couple of places - a quick Google search for php decline will return several results on the topic) that PHP is in decline and that PHP skills is not something that companies are looking for nowadays.

That said, I'm more interested in professional opinions than in following news reports. So I would like to ask you if this is something that is actually true, or some media campaign (I am overreacting, I know) to discourage people from learning PHP.

Thoughts anyone?
