Has GWT project failed?

I would like to start developing with GWT for a specific part of one project and I'm pretty interested to learn this technology but I noticed GWT community has been stopped working and not too many projects now a days runs in this technology.

I did start searching about the related reasons to find the advantage and disadvantage of this technology and Why this technology has been stopped continuing but unfortunately I couldn't find any clear and reliable answer for it.

Now I want to ask you, Is this technology worth to spend time and develop ? please tell me why this project suddenly stopped its community ? Has it really failed and if yes for what restrictions or there's another reason for it and I don't know.
