How to do webhosting [on hold]

I am a J2EE developer and have a JSF web app currently on my system. I have a php web app too on my local system.

I want to host both of the apps on my host name that I have bought say www.demo.com by creating two different folders for each and then access them by their folder names as www.demo.com/jsfapp and www.demo.com/phpapp.

I am new to web hosting. Please guide me through the steps required like how to upload the apps on the server, which runtime environment to install for the apps and where to install, where to place the database and any other steps.
