Using fetch with chrome extension popup?

I am working on a chrome extension, which use fetch to do requests from a website by clicking on a button for example(in the popup or on the website). for example i open a website and then click on my extension. is there a way to fetch from the website (not from the popup.html)? Or can it automatically type in the console the fetch request? thank you!
