web reporting app with xml data from api

I am currently trying to create a web app that contains reports and the data is coming from the API with XML format.

The challenge that I am facing is the possibility of the data to be huge.

I have an option but can't decide which of my these might be the best.

Would you mind give your idea, suggestions and input regarding this.

Option 1: - Create Web App - Get data from API when it only needed

Option 2: - Create a service that will fetch the data from API and Save it to the Database - Create Web App and use the data from the Database

or do you have any suggestions ..
