Building a Web Application for uploading and viewing large excels in a mysql database

I have a side project to build an web based application that would be capable of uploading large excel files in a mysql database with the help of php. I’ve searched some examples of source code online to have a starting point but I don’t seem to find any. Can somebody help me with a start?
