Can you use a prototyping app in creating a desktop application?

I've been reading about apps like JustInMind, Adobe Experience Design, InVision, and Proto.io. Is it possible to prototype a desktop application's graphic user interface or even more with a prototyping app? The operating system doesn't matter.
