values of one modal are being overwritten by other modal values

I have a problem with 2 modals present on the same page. I have opened the first modal on button click and this modal selects a id and stores it in a variable ($foot). On opening the other modal i store the value in another variable ($service) but the value of $foot is being overwritten by $service everytime I try to store or use $foot after using $service. Thanks in advance:)
