I'm studying and preparing a document for implementing of an online voting system (web based system) which can be used for governmental voting purposes. I would like to ask for you advise and suggestions regarding the threats, weaknesses and risks that such a system can have. If you are not agree for using of such systems, it would be great to have your comments.
Based on my findings, I see following items as a matter of threats, weaknesses or risks which should be cared and considered:
- Data Security
- Physical Security
- Personnel Security
- Identity Validation, Verification and Authentication
What's your view? Do you see any other items that might affect the system's reliability and user's trust? Do you have any comments for such voting systems?
Basic requirements are:
- People can vote only one time.
- Votes must be confidential and no one should be able to find about who voted for what.
