Is it ok to use Vagrant or Docker for QA Testing of Web Application

I know we use docker and vagrant or any other containerization technology to setup development environment for developers quickly. But can we apply this for testing? I mean setup environment for each Tester's machine so they can test it in his own machine.It may include automation or without automation testing. This is what our Manager wants.I personally disagree that the "release Build" should be tested on Production replica, I mean staging environment that the hosting server have like in Amazon EC2 we have two staging server for that. We usually do like this but now our manager wants the tester should test on their on local machine by creating environment using Vagrant.
