How to click on Open/save/cancel button on IE 11 using selenium ruby

Trying to select and or press the save button in IE 11 using Selenium and Ruby have tried: "driver.action..send_keys("${KEY_ALT}S").perform" and "RAutomation" without success although i am sure either one might work. I am sure that this must have been done before using either of these methods. As a last resort i will use Autoit although i would rather not. If someone could give me a solution using "RAutomation " or "driver.action. + one or more above operations + .perform" that would be great thanks
