HTTP Redirect from Web Api

Client - WebApi 2.0 - Webservice

The Desktop application is a third party application. It has a link which opens a browser. The only thing it allows is to set a customized Url. So in this scenario is is possible set a client Url that accesses Webapi 2.0 that returns Http Response with a redirect location (from vendor api). Will the client browser open the newly returned url in the browser without any client side code (automatic redirect)?
