Where to find design tutorials not coding

I am learning Front end development and I am in a beginner to intermediate stage. I know how to structure and style the webpage with html and css and I know basic JavaScript. I felt that I am lacking sense of design. Every time I start to build something it doesn't end up into something nice. Think I should learn something about design. Did a google search for web design but came up only html css and JavaScript but couldn't find any resources that teach about design principles and basics rather than html and css. Can anyone suggest some good resources to learn about designs that I can use to develop and improve my design skills.
