CakePHP job portal application website

I am new to cakePhp and web development and I am sorry if this is a vague or even obvious question but wanted to ask to make sure I am approaching it correctly and I haven't missed something that cake offers?

I wanted to get some feedback on the approach I am taking in order to achieve what I need, I am creating a job portal website, I am curious about the approach to take for taking user information when they click the apply button.

I was planning on displaying a model box to gather their information and then store it in a database?

What is the correct way to handle this? Display a form, Allow user to input information and then add it to the database? Should I handle this as a normal form on a website?

Or does cake offer an alternative way to do something like this?
