I'm not sure if this question can be asked here, excuse me if not and I'll apreciate if you can show me where I can.
I'm studiying web development since 2 months more or less. We are learning HTML, CSS, Javascript and we'll be learning PHP in a while. I like the course and I whould like to work as a programmer eventually, the problem is that the course is not official and the diploma we'll get will be kind of worthless. So that, I want to ask you a couple of questions about this:
-Which are the skills a web developer must have in order to start applying for jobs (I'm not talking about specialists, but more in general)?
-What are the companies expecting and valuing the most from an autodidact candidate (In other words, what should a portfolio contain to maximize the chances of being hired)?
