Send fake path to Application

I want to drag a picture from a web Gallery to Photoshop. The folder with all the Pictures are stored on SMB share so that my client computers can access them. What I want to do now is to find that Pictures via the Web interface (Location is stored in a DB) then drag them to Photoshop, BUT send the path of the original Location so that PS opens the file from the SMB share. Why i want to do his? Because i have 1000s of pics I need to find quickly. Is that even possible.
