When to prefer SpringMVC over JSF?

I currently have to decide with which technology (SpringMVC or JSF) I should develop the next WebApplications. So I need some inputs when to prefer JSF over SpringMVC and vice versa.

Are there any best approaches for some webapplications when JSF is stronger than SpringMVC? When is Request-Based preferred over component-based application development? (e.g. for big or small applications etc. with lots of user actions)

Currently we run all Applications with JSF, but the trend shows that SpringMVC is getting more and more known and also interesting.
