Learning to build a website

I have decided to learn C# and SQL by building a website for an idea I have. The site will be hosted on Azure and so I will be using SQL for Azure.The site will be heavily data driven. I have and am somewhat familiar with Visual Studio 2013 and SQL Server 2014 Management Studio.

What project template should I start out with in VS?

Also, what other questions do I need to ask myself before I start?

I am certainly not a developer (yet) so I dont really know where to begin. I am sure that there are plenty of ways to go about this.
