Changing URL from "/a/" back to the original "/a"

Apologies if this is worded wrong i don't quite know how to explain my problem.

If my link is example.com/page/1 it will correct to example.com/page/1/.
How do prevent the correction?

Do i have to use .htaccess or the server config?
